Identifier: P0261

Scope and Contents

In 1983 massive amounts of rain fell on Salt Lake City. City Creek became so swollen with rain water that it overflowed its' boundaries and began to fill the streets of the city with water. Salt Lake officials and residents worked together to reroute the flooded river down State Street using sand bags. The photographs in this collection reflect the awesome calamity of flooding and the State Street "River." This collection is expected to grow and be inclusive of all Salt Lake flooding.
