Scope and Contents
Nelson is a rural sociologist, writer and author of "The Mormon Village." His research has been a valuable contribution to historians' understanding of Mormon communities. Nelson's photographs are predominately personal prints of himself and friends, but also include pictures of Utah towns such as Escalante, Provo, and Sunnyside during the 1920s.

Abstract
The Lowry Nelson photograph collection contains portraits of Lowry Nelson and others, as well as photographs of various towns in Utah, particularly Escalante. Also included are materilas related to settlements in Brazil and Cuba.
