Scope and Contents

The Hachiro P. Aoki papers (1944-2008) consist primarily of military records, programs, and school yearbooks related to Aoki and his wife, Barbara (Okuda) Aoki. The military records include certificates, reports, correspondence, and special order 57 related to Aoki's service in the United States Army. The school reunion programs relate to Barbara's years at Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah. Laid in the school yearbooks are loose notes and printed ephemera.

Biographical / Historical

Hachiro Paul Aoki passed away suddenly at age 91 on Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2018, of causes incident to age. Huch was born August 9, 1927, the eighth of 11 children. He married Barbara Okuda in 1954. They enjoyed 39 years together until Barbara's death in 1993. Huch was a hard worker and savvy businessman throughout his careers in farming and produce, propeller repair, all-terrain vehicle and snowmobile sales, the clothing industry, and commercial and industrial real estate. He served in the US Army 1951-53 in the Mountain and Cold Weather Training Command division. Huch loved the outdoors and introduced his family to the joys of outdoor recreation. He taught his children at an early age to bike, swim, snow ski and water ski. The family spent a lifetime of happy summers with dear FAHBL friends at Bear Lake and winters skiing at Solitude, Alta and Park City. He was a proud 100 percent participant in the Huntsman World Senior Games, competing annually for 32 years. His sports included golf, biking, trap shooting, duathlon and triathlon. He was inducted into the HSWG Hall of Fame in 2009.
