Organizational History

Patterned after the Texas Boys' Choir, the Utah Boys' Choir, directed by Richard Torgerson, was formally organized in January 1975. On 7 September 1976 the choir was incorporated. The choir was formed in part to "promote and foster education and instruction and develop musicianship, character, and discipline in the field of music." Persistent disagreements between Torgerson and the Board of Trustees eventually led to the disincorporation and disbandment of the choir in 1978.
