Historical Note

The Entrada Institute is a nonprofit organization in Torrey, Utah, dedicated to promoting education, environmentalism, and culture in southern Utah. It was founded in 1992 by a group of artists and outdoor enthusiasts who wanted to protect and promote southern Utah's Capitol Reef area. It is affiliated with Robbers Roost, a structure hand-built in 1976 by Ward and Gloria Roylance that became home to a bookstore, cafe, and the site of... events sponsored by the Entrada Institute. The Entrada Institute has various programs to protect and promote the Colorado Plateau, including: a scholarship program for Wayne County high school graduates; the Sunset Series, which includes readings, concerts, film screenings, and festivals; and an Artist in Residence program.
