The William C. Seifrit photograph collection contains 1 box of 84 cabinet cards, cartes-de-visite, tintypes, and photographs taken by various Utah photographers during the ninteenth century and early twentieth century. While the individuals are largely unidentified, the photographers are identified, and the collection is arranged by last name of the photographer.

Biographical Note
William “Bill” C. Seifrit (1935-2008) was born in Fairmont, West Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Fairmont State College and a Master of Arts and Ph.D. at Ohio University. He moved to Utah in 1973, working as facilities analyst for the Utah State Building Board and in public relations for Ballet West.
Seifrit was an art historian, lecturer, and writer. He collaborated with Robert Olpin (1940-2006) and Vern Swanson to co-author three books chronicling the history of art in Utah: Utah Art (1991), Utah Painting and Sculpture (1997), and Artists of Utah (1999). In 1985, Seifrit sat on the first Salt Lake County Art Advisory Board, and was part of a 1987 initiative to purchase works by Utah artists. Seifrit also wrote numerous articles on the history of art and photography in Utah, and was researching a history of nineteenth century Utah art and photography in the years before his death in 2008.
