Environmental Geology and Geologic Hazards in Utah: A Photographic Series
Collection
Identifier: P1274
Scope and Contents
Personnel of the Utah Geological and Mineralogical Survey have in the recent past been asked on many occasions to provide visual and descriptive material on environmental and engineering geology and geologic hazards. In response to this interest we have selected a set of 100 transparencies from the material which has been collected by UGMS in its investigations for other agencies and in its own independent studies.
Material was assembled to cover as wide a range as possible. Environmental aspects covered are surface flooding, high water table, foundation conditions, hillside stability of natural and artificial slopes, groundwater quality and pollution control, subsidence of natural ground, and earthquake faults.
It is hoped that through this series a greater awareness and understanding of the geological aspects of our environment may be reached.
