Historical Note

The Aurora Club was formed on February 6, 1913 at the home of Mary Parrott. The group started out as a social sewing club that met for refreshments, chatting, and sewing. Eventually the women moved on to reading and discussing books at each meeting. The programs went on to include notable speakers, tours, and other related programs. On March 17, 1921, the constitution and by-laws of the Aurora Club were accepted by the women and in April the club became associated with the State Federation of Women's Clubs. The group joined the City Federation of Women's Clubs in May 1921. It continued to exist throughout the twentieth century.
