Biographical Note
Charles H. Bradford (1928-1991) was born 11 December 1928 in Salt Lake City. Bradford contracted muscular dystrophy in his teems, going on to graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City in 1946. He earned a bachelors and masters degree in 1952 and 1954 respectively from the University of Utah. IN 1962, he graduated from Harvard with a Ph.D. in Economics. In 1957, he married Mary Lythgoe and became the parents of Stephen, Lorraine, and Scott. Bradford worked as a legislative assistant for Senator Wallace R. Bennett (R-UT), assistant professor at Brigham Young University, assistant director of the U.S. Senate Banking and Currency Committee, a deputy director of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Also as Deputy Manager and Economic Advisor to the American Bankers Association, Assistant Director of the Joint Economic Committee, and Chief Economist for the National Credit Union Administration. Charles H. Bradford served as a bishop for several years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). In 1991, Bradford was the recipient of the Presidential Award for Outstanding Federal Employees with Disabilities, upon which he performed a "wheelie" in his wheelchair. On 11 December 1991, Dr. Bradford died of cancer in Washington D.C. at the age of 63.
