Biographical Note
Thomas R Carlson (1928 - 2016) was born in Duluth. Minnesota in 1928. He attended Michigan Tech University and was awarded a degree in Mining Engineering. After graduation he moved to Salt Lake and began a long career with Kennecott Copper. In a career spanning over 30 years, Tom began work on the track gang and went on to become Superintendent of the Bingham Canyon Mine.
Tom married Mary Clark Carlson.
After retiring from Kennecott, Tom was appointed by Governor Norman Bangerter to serve on the State Industrial Commission as one of three Commissioners. He served in that position for ten years.
Tom passed away in 2016 in Palm Springs, California.
