Biographical Note
Camille Arthur "Art" Zeldin (1918-2008) graduated from the Massachuesettes Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering in 1939. He spent his early career working in gold mining and magnesium refining. He served 2 years in the Navy during World War II after which he was employed by Kennecott Copper Corporation (KCC) to work on designs in Baltimore, MD, for KCC's first two electrolytic copper refineries. Upon completion of his work in Baltimore, Zeldin transferred to Utah to become head of the Metallurgical Department. From 1956-1959, Zeldin worked as a project development engineer at the Kennecott Research Center (KRC) at the University of Utah on new methods of smelting, casting, and refining copper. He then returned to Baltimore to develop new techniques on continuously casting copper shapes. He became the Refinery Plant Superintendent at the Utah Refinery in 1959. He completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1952 and continued his career with KCC until 1982. In his later professional years, Zeldin worked as a consultant and as chairman of the Utah Water Pollution Control Committee.
