Scope and Contents

The Erich Robert Paul papers (1856-1994) contain correspondence, biographical information, articles, subject files, research materials, conference materials, class materials, notes, and news clippings. The majority of the collection contains articles on the history of science and class materials on the history of science. Also included are a variety of articles on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) and its relationship to scientific thought.

Biographical Note

Erich Paul (b. 1943) was born on 23 July 1943 in Los Angeles, California. From 1971 to 1976, Paul attended Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, where he received his master's and Ph.D. in the history and philosophy of science. From 1983 to 1984, he attended the American University, Washington, D.C., where he earned a master's degree of computer science. He began working at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania in 1976, serving on the faculty in the department of math and computer science until his death. From 1983 to 1984, Paul worked as an adjunct associate professor of computer science at the American University. Then in 1989 to 1990, he worked as an adjunct associate professor of philosophy at Utah State University.

The Erich Robert Paul papers (1856-1994) contain correspondence, biographical information, articles, subject files, research materials, conference materials, class materials, notes, and news clippings. Paul received a master's degree in computer science at the American University and master's and Ph.D. degrees in the history and philosophy of science from Indiana University. He has taught at American University, Utah State University, and Dickinson College.
