Eugene Merrill photograph collection

 Collection
Identifier: P0363

Scope and Contents

The collection centers around Merrill's career with the U.S. Department of the Army and his work in the NATO Infrastructure Committee, but also includes some portraits. Included are a set of prints detailing the Infrastructure Committee's trip to Norway in 1959 to inspect sites such as the Bardufoss airfield, the Hoggumpen Radar Station, and the Haakonsvern Naval Base. Perhaps most interesting is the photograph album in Box 2m which through a series of before-and-after shots describes the physical rehabilitation of Germany's communication facilities and communications equipment production facilities after World War II. Merrill was in charge of this entire project from 1945 to 1950.
