Historical Note

Karl Vernon King was born on 27 October 1901, the son of Samuel Andrew and Maynetta Bagley King. He attended the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, and George Washington University before serving an LDS mission in Germany. He joined his father's law firm in 1930 and became a Salt Lake City judge in 1944. In the late 1940s-1950s, he was involved in a massive importation of foreign sheepherders into the United States due to the decline of the wool industry. King was married to Imogene Wilhelmsen in 1926. He died on 5 June 1969. Samuel A. King was born on 9 January 1868 to William and Josephine Henry King. He graduated from the Michigan Law School in 1896. He and his brother, Senator William H. King, were partners in a law firm from 1906-1916. He served an LDS mission to Great Britain and then married Maynetta Bagley in 1892. He married LoRen Watson after Maynetta's death. William H. King was born on 3 June 1868 to William and Josephine Henry King. He received his law degree from the University of Michigan and served in various political positions in Utah for over fifty years. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1916-1940. Creighton King was the brother of Karl Vernon King. He died suddenly in 1930.
