Biographical Note

Wesley Walter Deist (1923-2008) was born on September 20, 1923, and raised in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Following high school, Deist served as a U.S. Navy SEAL during World War II. Wes married Lenna Hooker in 1944, and supported his family by operating his own insurance agency. Deist coached the KIFI and Kelly Canyon Ski teams until the age of 82, and died at the age of 84 in 2008.

Abstract

Wesley W. Deist was a ski instructor and member of the United States Ski Association (USSA) Intermountain Division for 65 years. These papers (1958-2008) include documents relating to his role as president of the organization, including competition results and convention materials.
