Biographical Note
Arthur Clark Wiscombe was born October 12, 1928, to Arthur Newland and Blanch Clark Wiscombe, and was raised in the Uintah Basin, graduating from Alterra High School in 1946. Wiscombe met Doris Joy Myers at Brigham Young University and married her May 28, 1948. Soon after, he served as a full-time missionary for the LDS Church in the North Central States mission. He received his undergraduate education from Brigham Young University (Provo, Utah) and graduate degrees from Columbia University (New York City, New York), Harvard University (Cambridge, Massachusetts), and the University of Chicago.
Wiscombe served as a teacher, principal, superintendent of Salt Lake City, UT and Downers Grove, IL school districts, and professor of philosophy at BYU and the University of Utah. He died on October 9, 2011.

This collection begins with volumes regarding Wiscombe's life in the original order that was arranged by Wiscombe. The following documents are the volumes of Letters, Notebooks, and Essays. Final documents are the individual writings collected and written by Wiscombe in alphabetical. All documents were received in binders and are maintained in their original order within binders.
