Scope and Contents

The L.M. Sutton papers contain a copy of H.R. 24134 "A Bill introduced in the House of Representatives January 14, 1907." This Bill provides, "for the granting and patenting to the State of Colorado, free of price, desert lands formerly in the Ute Indian Reservation." Also included in the collection is correspondence to and from L.M. Sutton regarding the homesteading and sale of various lands. The Carey Act of 1894 is mentioned in several of the letters.
