Scope and Contents

The Ronald B. De Waal papers (2004, 2017) contains a paper entitled "Three Most Influential Libraries in My Life." In this paper, De Waal writes about three libraries, the Salt Lake City Public Library, the University of Utah Library, and the Colorado State University Library, which he states, "...have had such a major affect on my life." He begins the paper with a brief story about obtaining his first library card from the Carnegie Public Library and his time at the library afterward. He then relates his experiences with the University of Utah Library, his thoughts on becoming a librarian, his part-time job there, his decision to attend the University of Denver, and his friend, mentor and the library's director, at the time, L. H. Kirkpatrick. Finally, he writes about his education in "librarianship" and philosophy and his acceptance of, and work in, the position of Humanities Librarian at Colorado State University Library. Also included is a bound autobiography titled, Journal Pages from the Typewriter and Film Camera of Ronald Burt De Waal.

Biographical Note

De Waal received a degree in librarianship from the University of Denver and was Humanities Librarian at the Colorado State University Library.
