Scope and Contents

The R. Kent Fielding papers (1840-1998) consist of correspondence, teaching materials, lectures, maps, and Fielding's writings along with the research materials he gathered for them. Robert Kent Fielding (b. 1920) was a former student and member of the department of history at Brigham Young University. The collection reflects his interest in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), as well as his transition from a practicing member of the LDS Church to a secular humanist in 1960.

The R. Kent Fielding papers (1840-1998) consist of Fielding's writings and the research materials he gathered for them. The collection reflects his interest in the history of the LDS Church, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, and his transition from being a member of the LDS Church to being a secular humanist.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Box 1 folders 1-2 were donated in September 1998.

Box 1 folder 3 through Box 5 were donated in April 2004.
