Biographical Note

Colonel Howard Campbell Price (1872-1950) and his company, the 360th Infantry Regiment of the 180th Texas Brigade of the 90th Texas Oklahoma Division, were on the Meuse-Argonne front, in France, from October to November, in 1918. They attacked the Freya Stellung, a German-held position crucial to the advance of the Allied troops. The Freya Stellung position defended the Meuse, a pivotal hinge through which the Allies would move through Northern France and Belgium. The 360th successfully destroyed the German line, which imperiled the entire German Army and hastened the end of the war. For his service, Colonel Price received the Distinguished Service Medal from the United States, and France awarded him the Croix de Guerre. Colonel Price's career also included a tour in the Philippines, and he commanded Fort Douglas from 1927-1931. He retired from the service in 1936, and lived in La Jolla, California, until his death.
