Organizational History
The First Congregational Church, which was established in Salt Lake City in 1865, is a spiritual descendant of the "pilgrims" or "puritans" who migrated to America in the seventeenth century. A distinctive and central value of congregational churches is the autonomy of the local congregation. They also have a heritage of liberal theology, social activism, and ecumenism.
