The Ronald L. Holt papers (1860-1994) consist of the papers Holt used in writing his dissertation, entitled Beneath These Red Cliffs: An Ethnohistory of the Utah Paiutes, and its subsequent publication in 1992. Biographical Sketch
Ronald L. Holt is among the nation's leading scholars on the history of the Paiute People. He has contributed to numerous publications, including the section on "The Utah Paiutes" in the Encyclopedia of Utah History. Holt was awarded his Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and History from Texas Tech University during 1974. Two years later, he earned a Master of Arts with honors in Anthropology. Following a series of academic and professional positions, Holt entered the Ph.D.program in Anthropology the University of Utah during 1983. He received his Ph.D. during 1987. Holt has held numerous teaching positions. He served as an instructor and teaching assistant at the University of Utah from 1979 through 1981. He taught at Southern Utah State College during the 1981-1982 academic year. He then returned to the University of Utah as an instructor of Anthropology through 1986. During 1986, he accepted a position in the Anthropology Department at Weber State University. Ronald Holt currently holds the rank of assistant professor and works as the Director of the Honors Program and the Bachelor of Integrated Studies Degree Program at Weber State University.
