Scope and Contents

The Floyd E. Risvold papers (1960-1970) consist mainly of letters between Risvold and Dale Morgan. The letters contain information dealing with many aspects of Western history including the Overland Trail, Western maps, the Hudson Bay Colony, postal history, Mormon history, and the fur trade. Some personal information is also discussed in the letters. The collection also contains an announcement of an award given to Risvold for his work on the life of Abraham Lincoln.

Biographical Sketch

Floyd E. Risvold was a manuscript collector, dealer, and historian from Minnesota. He had a great interest in Western Americana history. In 1976, he received the Barondess Lincoln Award for his contribution to the study of the life of Abraham Lincoln.
