Scope and Contents

The C. A. Robertson papers (1922-1932) consist of a bound volume of letters from Robertson to his daughter, Allien; one genealogy sheet; an obituary; and a picture. The letters are copies Robertson kept in his office files and portry his deep affection for his family, work, and the area of southeastern Utah in which he lived. They give an account of the daily life of citizens in Moab and describe local politics, social events, land disputes, divorces, murders, etc.

Biographical Sketch

Clarence Adrian Robertson was born on 27 August 1879 in Brownstone, Indiana, to Absolom and Martha C. Robertson. He attended law school at the University of Michigan and served as a county attorney in Utah until his death. He was also a member of the Utah State Board of Education, managed and edited the Grand Valley Times newspapers, and established the First National Bank of Moab. He married Eva Lurana Taylor in 1903. C. A. Robertson died in November 1932.
