Scope and Contents

The Thomas Widdop autobiography contain an undated photocopy of Widdop's life remiscences titled "Reflections of the Past in Wyoming and Colorado." It describes his life of cattle ranching in Greeley, Colorado, and southwestern Wyoming during the 1880s and 1890s. Included are descriptions of ranching, herding sheep, and carrying mail in Burnt Fork and Mountain View, Wyoming. He recalls several episodes involving Indians, range fires, and train robberies. Butch Cassidy stayed on his ranch briefly, and Widdop met notorious thieves such as Whiteriver Charley and Al Hurst.
