Organizational History
The Salt Lake Valley Citizen's Council was a blue ribbon group established in February 1963 by the Salt Lake County Commission "to determine the principles and goals that will guide the preparation of the Master Plan for Valley's future development." There were ten study committees: Ways and Means, Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Recreation, Schools, Transportation, Community Facilities, Community Maintenance, and Agriculture. The committees completed their work in June 1963 with a final report on goals and recommendations for a master plan.

The Salt Lake Valley Citizen's Council records (1962-1963) consist of materials concerning the council's involvement in the creation of a master plan to govern development in the Salt Lake Valley. Included are reports, recommendations, organizational papers, problem statements, and other materials resulting from the council's ten study committees. The Salt Lake Valley Citizen's Council was organized in February 1963 and completed their work in June of that same year.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Transferred from the University Archives in 1985. Originally part of administrative records of Reed Richardson, a professor in the School of Business and a member of the Citizen's Council.
