Biographical Sketch

Wallace A. Clay was born 11 March 1884 only three hundred feet from where the "golden spike"joined the Union and Pacific railroads. He grew up amidst railroad construction and especially among Chinese railroad workers. His father, C. M. Clay, was a telegraph operator.
