Scope and Contents

The Edward Lloyd Parry papers (1878-1897) consist of several items, most of which relate to Parry (b. 1818). Included are an account of the building and dedication of the Manti LDS temple, a manuscript newspaper entitled "The Home Writer" (1882-1883), a time book for E. L. Parry & Sons Stone Quarry (1870), and a volume of music copied from another source.

Biographical Sketch

Edward Lloyd Parry was born in St. George, Denbigshire, Wales, on 25 August 1818. He was a mason and stonecutter who helped build the Salt Lake, St. George, and Manti LDS temples. He and his sons formed E. L. Parry & Sons in 1888, specializing in contracting, building, and marble cutting. He married Elizabeth Evans, who died, then married Ann Parry in 1857.
