Scope and Contents
The Patrick W. McKendrick papers (1936-1939) consist of McKendrick's hand-written manuscript, as well as a typescript, describing his metal recycling project at the Salt Lake City garbage dump. Twelve vouchers documenting the amount earned per assay are also included.

Biographical Sketch
Patrick McKendrick staked a mineral claim at the Salt Lake City dump during the 1930s and began a sluice operation to recover the iron, gold, and silver left by decomposing cans and garbage. The operation was not profitable for long.
