Scope and Contents

The Union Pacific Railroad collection consists of fourteen money vouchers (1899) made to the superintendent of the Pacific Express Company for posse expenses relative to the robbery of Union Pacific Train No. 1 near Wilcox, Wyoming, 2 June 1899. Also included in the collection is an excurion rate card for the 62nd annual conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the laying of the cap stone of the temple, at Salt Lake City (1862).

Organizational History

The Union Pacific Railroad is the largest railroad network in the United States. The railroad was incorporated on 1 July 1862 in the wake of the Pacific Railroad Act.
