Scope and Contents

The Anders Gustaf Johnson papers (2002) consist of a bound and edited collection of his autobiography and journals. The collection is edited by William Eugene Johnson and includes transcribed diaries from 1878 to 1910. Anders Gustaf Johnson (1843-1910) was born in Sweden. His grandfather and parents converted to the LDS Church when he was eleven, and then the family came to Utah. The collection chronicles his life among the Scandinavian... population in northern Utah in the late nineteenth century, his continual struggle for employment and sustenance, his mission to Sweden, and events in the political scene in Grantsville, Utah.
