Biographical Note

Nina Dougherty (1933-2016) was a prominent environmental activist who predominantly lived in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dougherty had an extensive background as a medical librarian and received her degree in anthropology from Ohio State University and her Master's Degree in Library Sciences. She was heavily involved with the Sierra Club holding various leadership positions and participating in different projects across Utah related to improving environmental quality.

The Nina Dougherty papers (1949-2010) consist of correspondence, research, and organization documents relating to the Utah projects Dougherty was heavily involved in during her lifetime. Dougherty was a prominent environmental activist.

Arrangement

This collection (boxes 1-42) is arranged in alphabetical order according to research topics. The addendum to the collection (boxes 43-154) begins with personal documents and is followed by documents organized by subject. Folders within boxes are organized alphabetically. Final documents in the collection are oversized and can include subjects previously listed but separated due to size.
