Martha Ross Stewart papers

 Collection
Identifier: ACCN 2000

Scope and Contents

The Martha Ross Stewart papers (1932-1997) consist of poetry and diary excerpts written by Martha Ross Stewart (b. 1915). The material in this collection has been photocopied by her son, Peter R. Stewart, and has been grouped into four "books". Book one contains poems from 1932-1940. Book two is a sketch book with both poems and drawings. Book three includes poems from 1944-1953 and book four simply has poems that Peter grouped together because they were written on odd sized sheets of paper. Oftentimes the poems are about love, the seasons, and Martha Ross Stewart's life. The final documents in this collection are excerpts from Martha Ross Stewart's 1938 diary that details the pregnancy and birth of Peter.
