Biographical Sketch

Orson Ferguson Whitney was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on 1 July 1855. He served as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, from 1906 until his death in 1931. Whitney was also a politician, journalist, and taught at Brigham Young College during the 1890s. He was also the author of several publications and wrote the lyrics to a few of the LDS Church's hymns. Whitney died on 16 May 1931 in Salt Lake City.
