Scope and Contents

The Humanists of Utah records (1946-1996) consist of documentation pertaining to the process of running a chapter of the national society, The Humanists. The collection includes correspondence relating to the Utah chapter, as well as society minutes, statements of purpose and the national newsletter. The society's intent is to provide an alternative spiritual and educational forum for cultures dominated by religion. Its focus is on evolution and science as the basis for life, and rejects theism as archaic and outmoded.

The Humanists of Utah, founded in 1991, is a chapter of American Humanist Association. It is a non profit corporation organized to advocate humanism among its members and community.
