Park City Ski Corporation records
Collection
Identifier: ACCN 1218
Scope and Contents
The Park City Ski Corporation records (1961-1997) contains announcements to the public and the media from the company's communications director regarding upcoming events, resort improvements, and new programs available for visitors. The collection also includes many brochures and information packets that cover the same subjects, although these items also contain local advertising, vacation ideas, and visitor information. Throughout each year, the communications director of the Park City Ski Corporation, Mark Menlove (1991-1992 to 1993-1994) and Charlie Lansche (1994-1995 to 1996-1997) would inform the public about numerous events: America's Opening World Cup Ski Races, the Women's Ski Challenge, Interconnect Adventure Tours, Snowshine Festival, programs for junior and senior skiers, off-season/summertime activities, and others. Some season folders have the Park City Ski Area quarterly update, "On The Mountain." This illustrated newsletter was for local skiers and contains articles, advertisements, and event reminders. Also included in the collection is information from the Utah Ski Association's 1995-1996 season. Similar to the documents regarding the Park City Ski Corporation, it contains 2002 Winter Olympic updates, news and notes from Utah ski areas, Gold Pass information, lift ticket purchase deadlines, and information on other events. Lastly, the collection holds miscellaneous items related to Utah skiing, such as news clippings, an Alta trail map, a race day guide to the North American Junior Alpine Championships held at Park City West in 1970, and a memorandum from Alpine Meadows, the Park City sister resort located in Lake Tahoe, California.
