Scope and Contents
The Harold P. Fabian papers (1914-1976) consist of materials relating to Fabian's service as chairman of the Utah Parks and Recreation Commission and his activities as a conservationist. Most of the information is in the form of correspondence, meeting materials, financial reports, budget requests, manuals, state park acquisition information, legislative bills, and other papers. Information about state organizations and special interest groups such as the Department of Natural Resources, Committee for Outdoor Recreation Resources, the Urban Land Institute, and others, is also present. Diaries and other personal materials of Fabian and his wife, Josephine, are also in the collection.

Biographical Sketch
Harold P. Fabian was born on 1 April 1885. He graduated from both Yale and Harvard universities in 1907 and 1910, respectively. He served as a major in the Infantry during World War I, was a member of various law partnerships, and served on many Utah education boards and committees. He married Josephine Cunningham in 1938. He was the chairman of the National Parks Advisory Board from 1963 to 1972. Harold P. Fabian died in 1975.

Abstract
The Harold P. Fabian papers (1914-1976) consist of materials relating to Fabian's service as chairman of the Utah Parks and Recreation Commission and his activities as a conservationist. Included are correspondence, meeting minutes, financial reports, budgets, and legislative bills related to the planning, development, and operation of Utah state parks and recreation areas. Also included are materials related to the activities of various public and private agencies concerned with parks and recreation, as well as some personal materials.
