Oscar W. and Mary Preston Moyle papers
Collection
Identifier: ACCN 1420
Scope and Contents
The Oscar W. and Mary Preston Moyle papers (1889-1945) consist mostly of Moyle family diaries and papers. The correspondence is personal and covers family matters as well as comments on the general state of the world. The bulk of the correspondence is to and from Marion Moyle Shenon and her mother, Mary Preston Moyle. Also included are letters from all of the children to their parents and to each other, as well as family friends.
The Shenon contribution of a diary and correspondence is included because Philip Shenon was married to Marian Moyle Shenon. Mary Preston Moyle's diaries are records of her family and her travels. Her 1912 diary was written on board the Mauritania, a famous luxury liner of that time. Much of Oscar Moyle Jr.'s correspondence is a log of his European trip, and Philip Shenon's correspondence is the account of his honeymoon with Marian Moyle Shenon.
