Notebook, 1940s
Scope and Contents
The notebook of collected quotations is filled with hand-written quotes, maxims and clippings, many of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints origins. The notebook consists of dividers labelled with the letters N through Z. The indexing was used to arrange entries by thematic headings. The collection contains many unattributed, possibly original, quotes along with those of Walt Whitman, Samuel Johnson, Shakespeare, Jesus, Confucius, Seneca, Abraham Lincoln, Douglas MacArthur, George Eliot, Thomas Edison as well as Biblical excerpts. Those of Mormon interest are from Alexander Campbell, Leo J. Muir, John Widtsoe, Nephi Jensen, and David O. McKay.
