Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This collection consists of correspondence written over a period of years between Lee Deffebach and Utah artist and Highland High School art instructor, Patrick Eddington, and continuing until shortly before her death. The letters offer an interesting perspective on the artist’s feelings about her surroundings and the locals in Tuscarora, Nevada and the nature and animals she so cherishes. One also gets a sense of her strong personality and opinions. Many of the letters address Patrick Eddington’s “cat project” directly, while at the same time offering insight on Deffebach’s feelings towards her art and the notion of art in general, and revealing the difficulties and anxieties that artists face when they are unable to produce art
