The Utah Batteries A and B records (1898-1899) contain discharge payroll documents for members of A and B Batteries of Utah U.S. Volunteers. These records contain birthplace, physical description, occupation, and military information. General payroll records are also included providing details of military pay, some additional military information about destinations, sickness, fines, etc., as well as the signature of each soldier.
Also included in the records are general orders, to Major Richard W. Young, dated June 2, 1898, putting Young in charge of Utah A and B Batteries. Young was affiliated with Battery A, but was the senior officer of the two Batteries (A and B).
