Financial documents [photocopies]

 File — Box: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection: The Alta mining financial records (circa 1920) consist of financial documents stemming from mining activities in Alta, Utah. Included is a canceled stock certificate issued to, and endorsed on the back by, Carl Bauer of Eureka, Utah, for 42,500 shares of the Alta Peruvian Mining and Milling Co. Each share was worth five cents. A receipt showing payment to the heirs of Carl Bauer in exchange for the 42,500 shares of stock is also present. These items are undated. The collection also contains approximately 26 grocery receipts from Stilwell and Despain, "Dealers in General Merchandise and Mining Supplies." The purchases were made by South Hecla Mines Company, from August 1, 1921 to June 23, 1922. The receipts record the use of credit by the mining company, what was available for groceries and mining supplies, and the prices for such supplies in the early 1920s.
