Japanese American Citizens' League, 1958-2016
Scope and Contents
The Raymond Uno Papers (1950-2019) consist primarily of materials related to the Japanese American Citizens' League and Uno's appointment books. The first series, organized chronologically, consists primarily of materials related to his involvement in the Japanese American Citizens' League on the national and local level. Materials include membership lists, agendas, booklets, forms, correspondence, minutes, newsletters, press releases, and printed ephemera.
The second series consists primarily of Uno's appointment books organized chronologically. The personal, professional, and extracurricular reminders are brief entries. In the later appointment books, there are invitations, correspondence, obituaries, fliers, programs, and other printed ephemera loosely placed within the pages. The correspondence spans from 1955 through 1999 and include letters from the Utah Courts, University of Utah, educational institutions, civic organizations, students, and family. The Subject Files in this series primarily consist of travel materials related to Uno's trips to Japan and various conferences. Letters, greeting cards, and marriage scripts for wedding ceremonies officiated by Uno are also included. Seven translated "Issei Project Interviews" conducted by the Japanese Work Conference and the Salt Lake City Japanese Church of Christ is also found in this series. The topics include life in Japan; ship voyage; and life during and after World War II.
