Scope and Contents
- Tom Welch discusses leading Salt Lake City's campaigns to win Olympic bids for the 1996 and 2002 Winter Olympics. He talks about his tactics and techniques for winning votes from the members of the International Olympic Committee. Welch and his team focused on sharing ownership of the games with the people of Utah, building and maintaining Olympic caliber facilities, and developing and strengthening personal relationshps with IOC members. He also talks about losing the 1996 bid to Nagano, Japan, as well as the effects of his nonstop work on his personal life.
