Scope and Contents

  1. Herbert Maw talks about his career as a Democrat in Utah politics. Maw first became involved when he ran for state senate while he was on the faculty of University of Utah. He was elected and served in the 1929 session. In 1932, Maw was the Democratic nominee for the United States House of Representatives. He ran for a seat in the United States Senate in 1934. Maw also ran for and was elected governor of Utah. He served two terms. Maw describes campaigning, working on reforms, and the political relationships he developed throughout this career.
