File — Box: 79, Folder: 11
Scope and Contents
- Thomas G. Alexander, Lemuel Hardison Redd, Jr., Professor Emeritus of History at Brigham Young University and longtime parliamentarian of the Western History Association, discusses his academic training, the origins of the Charles Redd Center for Western American Studies at BYU, and his decades of participation in the Western History Association. Dr. Alexander received a BA and MA in history at Utah State University, where he worked with Leonard Arrington, and took his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. He became involved in the WHA in the early 1960s. Dr. Alexander enjoys the camaraderie at the WHA, but particularly feels that Western religious history has been historically underrepresented and discusses the Redd Center’s efforts to endow a prize in that field.
