Scope and Contents
- Derlin Newey was a young boy living in Ogden, Utah, when Snowbasin opened. He discusses his memories of the opening and early days of the ski resort. Newey also talks about ski competitions he attended or was involved in growing up. He describes the first rope tow at Snowbasin, as well as the gear that he used to ski. In addition, Newey talks about the other families that skied at Snowbasin, as well as his peers. Newey still skis at Snowbasin, where staff and his fellow skiers call him “Oldie.” He describes what it’s like to ski at Snow Basin now.
