Scope and Contents

  1. Gary Nate was born in Ogden, Utah. Gary Nate was an early skier at Snow Basin in Utah. He was on the ski patrol from about 1963 to 1973. Throughout his life his heroes have all been skiers and he talks about working with all of them as a cameraman for Warren Miller Films. He talks about his relationship with Warren Miller and other filmmakers. Nate describes the evolution of Snow Basin as ownership of the resort changed hands over the years. He also talks about the ski gear and the filming gear he used throughout his career. During the Olympics in 2002, Nate had the opportunity to film events and talks about the effect the Olympics had on Snow Basin.
