 File — Box: 77, Folder: 10

Scope and Contents

  1. Tim DeChristopher was born in West Virginia to environmentalist parents, and spent a lot of time outdoors. DeChristopher went to Arizona State University, where he was about to reconnect with the land. There, he was part of the only environmental group on campus at the time. He talks about becoming a Christian, his spirituality, and acting on his environmental values. DeChristopher also talks about his connection to the Unitarian Church in Salt Lake City, and the beginnings of Peaceful Uprising. He talks about his philosophy in regards to activism, and how it has evolved, and his commitment to climate change activism. DeChristopher describes his participation in the Power Shift conference in Washington DC. He then talks about bidding in the Bureau of Land Management or and gas lease auction, the aftermath and the support he has received.
