  1. In this interview, Deedee Corradini talks about her early life. Her family lived in Beirut and in a few cities in the United States. They traveled often because her father was a Congregationalist minister. When Corradini’s father accepted a position in Salt Lake City, she came for a visit and fell in love with the West. She studies educational Psychology with a specialty in rehabilitation services at the University of Utah. Deedee then talks about how she developed a passion for politics. She worked for Governor Cal Rampton, and then worked as Wayne Owens’ press secretary. After working in both the private and public sectors for a number of years, Deedee decided to run for mayor of Salt Lake City. She was mayor from 1992-2000. She was integral in getting the Olympics to come to Utah. She describes meeting Lindsay Van, and getting involved with women’s ski jumping. She became president of the board of Women’s Ski Jumping U.S.A. Over the course of several years, the board successfully lobbied for the creation of a women’s ski jumping team in 2011.
